Tapa Rice Recipe

Tapa is called by Filipinos on marinated pork or beef sirloin. One of the very famous breakfast by the locas here in the Philippines and they usually call it TAPSILOG (Tapa Sinangag at Itlog).

Here in my receipe of Tapa Rice, I made use of theTapa bought in Taal, Batangas. I usually buy Tapa in Taal because it is one of the best I’ve tried. Good thing we have a friend who’s parents sells Sepcial Tapa and Longganisa at the public market of Taal, Batangas. Gerry & Lheen is the name of the stall.

Anyway, Taal, Batangas is quite far from Manila to buy authentic tapas. You can actually make your own version of Tapa and you can check the beef tapa recipe and sinangag (garlic rice) here.

For the Tapa Rice Recipe:

    Pork Tapa

  • 1/4 kg of tapa slice it into strips
  • 2-3 cups of cooked cold rice
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tbsp of cooking oil
  • salt to taste

Procedure:

    Cold Rice

  • In a pan, cook Tapa with the marinade and let it evaporate the liquid marinade in a low fire
  • Add the oil to cook tapa meat till brown
  • Set aside the tapa meat and put the fire to medium to scramble the egg
  • Add the tapa meat and and the cold rice and mix them with the scrambled egg
  • Toss and mix. add salt to taste and let it stand for another 2 minutes and serve.
  • You can garnish it with you favorite pickled veggies or sliced cucumbers.
