Market Basket at Festival Mall Alabang

market-basketWe were recently invited by friends to try out the newly opened Market Basket located at the new wing of Festival Mall, the River Park.

I’ve never been there before but I already see this area with lots of construction activities whenever I pass around Corporate Avenue in Filinvest, Alabang.

Anyway, the name of the restaurant is “Market Basket”, which is a Dampa-style restaurant. It’s different from the original Dampa because it’s cleaner and more sophisticated.

Dampa, if you’re not familiar, is a type of restaurant in the Philippines where you can market for, and select fresh meat or fish that they’ll be using for your order.

There are several dampa or paluto restaurants around here in Manila and paluto restaurants are very popular at known beach places like Puerto Galera and Boracay. Most of them are “carinderia” ambiance, but Market Basket is different because it’s a bit upscale.

Market Basket is situated at the new wing of Festival Mall, the River Park. The place is very neat and nice and it also has open air dining, which is overlooking the river that cuts across Alabang. I never knew that there’s Alabang River.

How’s the food?

Well, the food and desserts that I was able to try were great. I got the chance to try some of their specialties and by the way, aside from their paluto service, they also have their specialty viand just in case you can’t think of what to have for paluto.

You can check on their menu or Chef’s Special written on the black board.

You can see some of Market Basket’s food photos at the gallery, just click the image to enlarge. Prices of food ranges from P200 and above. Most of the food there are good for 2-3 person.
